Use it when someone is playing a game, sitting together or doing an activity you would like to share.

This asks someone to move closer to the speaker.
When can I say it?
It can be an invitation to come closer. Tone and the situation matter: the words alone do not tell us how the speaker feels.
Extra examples to try
These examples are for practice. They are not lines from the video.
- Can I join your game?
- Yes, you can join us.
Try it your way
Try both parts of a short conversation on your own, or with a partner: “Can I join you?” / “Come here.” Then choose an activity, such as drawing or a game, and make your own invitation. You can watch and practise with anyone, including a child.
